2018 Farmers' Field Day at LESREC

Wednesday, June 27, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.

The University of Maryland's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources invite you to the 2018 Farmers' Field Day at LESREC in Salisbury to see the research taking place in the following areas:

Plant Pathology Information - Dr. Kathryne Everts, who's research program focuses on the management of vegetable diseases that are economically important in the mid-Atlantic region and supports extension responsibilities in the states of Maryland and Delaware.

IR-4 Program - Part of it's Mission statement:  "to facilitates regulatory approval of sustainable pest management technology for specialty crops and specialty uses to promote public wellbeing."

Ag Law - identifying the legal needs of Maryland farm families and devising strategies to meet them.

Conserve - focused on facilitating the adoption of transformative on‐farm solutions that enable the safe use of nontraditional irrigation water on food crops, and effectively reducing the nation’s agricultural water challenges that are exacerbated by climate change.

Agricultural Nutrient Management - which is funded by the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), provides the following services:

  • nutrient management plan development for Maryland farmers through a network of nutrient management advisors located in all 23 county Extension offices; and
  • continuing education and technical support for certified nutrient management consultants and certified farm operators via nutrient management specialists located on the UMCP campus.

Wagons will take you on a tour of the facility as researchers share with you the progress in field.  Luncheon will be provided and the chance to speak one-on-one with local representatives about agriculture on the Eastern Shore.
