The 214-acre Lower Eastern Shore Research and Education Center's Poplar Hill Facility, is primarily used to evaluate agronomic systems, which help farmers of the Eastern Shore become more efficient with inputs for increased profits, production, and environmental safety. Information from research and extension projects is shared with the public at our two annual twilight field tours. The small grain twilight tour is held in mid May and the Corn and Soybean Twilight Tour is held during the first of August. The last few years both of these crop tours have been held during late afternoon - early evening hours. Departments using the facilities at Poplar Hill include Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science and Technology, Entomology, as well as research scientists and technicians from USDA at Beltsville, MD. This site has cooperative studies with the University of Delaware.
